Leafsight vs PictureThis for a sick plant
PictureThis is the most-rated plant app we checked on the App Store, with 1.12 million US ratings at 4.8 stars on 1 November 2026. It identifies plants from a photo and also looks at plant problems. Leafsight does one thing: it assesses a plant that looks wrong. If you are choosing between them for a sick plant, this is the honest comparison.

Who each one is for
PictureThis is for naming a plant you don't know and reading about it: its store page leads with identification, and its website carries a plant encyclopedia, care guides and plant questions in 12 languages. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Leafsight is for the moment a plant looks wrong. You photograph the leaf and get an assessment of the likely problem, how serious it looks, how sure the model is, and what to try first, with non-chemical steps first. It does not identify species. It runs on iPhone and iPad only, in 8 languages.

When PictureThis is the better choice
- You want to know what a plant is. Leafsight will not tell you.
- You are on Android.
- You want an encyclopedia, a plant collection and care reminders for many healthy plants in one app.
- You want a family plan.
When Leafsight is
- One plant looks sick and you want to know how sure the answer is before you act on it.
- You want to take a second photo in two weeks and be told whether it looks better.
- You want the price in front of you before any trial starts, and the first result's care steps without paying.
Leafsight is new (its first version was released in September 2026) and has no ratings shown on its US App Store page yet. Every result shows how sure the model is, the full result says what one photo cannot show, and a photo assessment can be wrong: for a valuable plant, or anything you might eat, ask a garden centre or a plant clinic.
Try it on the plant in front of you
Leafsight is free to download. Take a photo of the leaf and read the assessment; the first result's care steps are free. The plant problem guides on this site explain the common problems in plain words, in 8 languages.
